The Bagh

An 85 year old heritage resort set in 12 acres of a 200 year old, and nature surrounding it in her captivity. Yes, we are talking about the beautiful Bagh Resort, in Bharatpur. The Bagh offers visitors an opportunity to experience quiet luxury near Keoladeo Ghana National Park, one of the most famous bird sanctuaries in the world. It definitely is the place for all the bird lovers.

Something very different about the resort is that it has 21 rooms, But 21 rooms with each room being different and unique from the other. They are situated in three different residential complexes. Adding to their infrastructure are a restaurant Gulmohur that specializes in vegetarian food, banquet hall, coffee shop, library and a gym, all situated in a verdant orchard, that allow guests to enjoy solitude and companionship in restful indoor and outdoor spaces.

Tired after a good session of bird watching in Keoladeo National Park. But there is nothing to worry for the weary travellers. The luxurious attached bathrooms of the resort have running water through out the day to provide refreshment and rejuvenate the body and mind of the visitors. An ayurvedic massage or a lazy swim at the fully - equipped gym can further soothe and exhilarate the body and the mind.

With over fifty species of flora, including fruiting trees and flowering plants, guests can certainly enjoy the walks in the garden. As if the beautiful buildings made in local stones are designed to amalgamate with the natural surroundings. Architecture by the contemporary Indian women artists is also displayed throughout the complex. A stroll through the Bagh's garden certainly draws the attention of the visitor.

There are group walks and strolls through the quite afternoon watching the birds, studying their habitats. This is the most awaited moment for all the bird lovers who don’t blink their eyes to spot those beautiful little creatures up in the sky.

The architertecural surroundings take you back to history. There are different complexes offering different facilities for the visitors.

Mayur: The entrance block comprises of a reception area, a cafe and gift shop. The Cafe offers a range of refreshing brews and delicious snacks. The gift shop sells a variety of art and craft items as well as local treats.

Champa, Mogra and Gulab Bhavan: The three residential complexes comprise a total of twenty-one rooms, and have in-room entertainment. Other services such as laundry and wake-up call are available.

Gulmohar: The restaurant specializes in Satvik vegetarian cuisine and delicacies from the Braj region. There is also a select offering of other dishes.

Morchalli: The banquet hall hosts private events and dinners.

Mahua: The outdoor bar serves an assortment of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks with light snacks. Musicians perform for the guest’s pleasure.

Surkhaab: The vintage garage houses three vintage cars, including 1946 Chrysler Plymouth, a 1918 Model T Ford and a 1938 Tan Serier III Morris as well as Triumph 1938 motorcycle.

Sheesham: The recreational complex has fully equipped gym and swimming pool. Ayurvedic massages and other treatments are available at the spa.

Semal: The learning center has a library where naturalists and historians present slide lectures and conduct discussions. The amphitheatre is used for yoga sessions as well as for performances.

These complexes make the resorts surroundings more appropriate and very systematically planned to make things easier for the visitors visiting the resort and enjoying the wild, wild Rajasthan.

VISHNU SINGH JI

Born in Bharatpur, did his schooling from Scindia boarding school and post graduate in Arts from Rajasthan University,

He started his career as a naturalist in 1988. Over the years he has successfully done the following:

· Worked with prestigious accounts like SONIAN MUSEUM {USA}.
· Worked as a tour leader for Mountain Travel USA, SOBEK in India.
· Worked for STANFORD UNIV Tours in Nov.04 & February05.
· Has extensively traveled all over in India both historical places, as well as National parks
· Lead trips for BETCHART EXPEDITION, {USA}.
· Tour manager for A.N.H.M {American Naturalist History Museum} Nov.03
· Worked as a Co-leader for NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM for CHICAGO &
VIRGINIA MUSEUM

He has a personal bird checklist of about 950 birds of India, Nepal and Bhutan

Also he is a Member of B.N.H.S. Bombay, Member of W.W.F India, Member of Oriental Bird Club
